Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament in which the baptized are strengthened by the Holy Spirit in order to bear witness to Christ and prepare to take on the role of a disciple.

What the Church teaches…
This is a Sacrament of Initiation in which the bishop or a delegated priest confers Confirmation through the anointing with chrism on the recipient’s forehead, which is done by the laying on of the hand, while saying, “Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seals and confirms the baptized in union with Christ and calls them to greater participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church.

Confirmation at St. Joseph
The Sacrament of Confirmation is received in the 8th grade year at St. Joseph. Preparation for this Sacrament is done through religious education in both our parish school and Parish School of Religion.

On October 18, 2022, the 8th grade students who are preparing for Confirmation will be signing The Statement of Commitment.
